Haven't used my 70-200mm much since acquiring the 400mm. This is one of the last bird photos I took with it. Backyard setup.
Canon 5D Mark II
70-200mm f4L at 200mm
f4.5
ISO 640

Comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Hi Edward: I think you have an image with nice potential. The bird is nice and sharp very nice background as well. The image is pretty dark. I think you could easily improve this with either a curves or levels adjustment to bring up some of the tones.

I like this as presented. It might be on the dark side, but there's still lots of texture showing in the feathers and overall it gives the image a bit of a mysterious mood.

I agree with Richard. The darkness sets a nice mood. Worth playing with, though. There is solid potential either way.

Edward, nice image and I love the placement of the bird in the frame. I am going to go with keith on this one as it looks a little dark to me, but not bad. Well Done!!.

I find it rather interesting and different. Very sharp in the larger image. I might back off the red channel just a click or two to get back the details in the neck area.

I like the overall composition with just enough lighter area in the background just behind the bird to make this work for me. I still might have tried to open the shadows just a bit. I would agree with Angela about the neck area but I do like how the dark background really makes the reds stand out.
