My first post on this site. I was told about the site by Pat Sampson (nice guy).

This a Hellebore from my garden. Shot indoors and lit by a studio flash head with a softbox diffuser. I took six manually focused shots and stacked them in Helicon Focus. Better detail on the larger image.

There is EXIF in the shots (can you view it on here?)

Canon 5DM2 and Sigma 105mm macro lens. Processed in CS5 and Helicon.

Well, that was easy enough. What did I screw up?

Welcome to NPN. Ya Pat is a real nice guy and I consider him as one of my mentors. Learned a lot about flora post processing from.

Fabulous details and clarity in this image. I can see you are very meticulous and careful to produce such a beautiful image. :toast:

Rob, welcome to NPN. I like the detail acheived from your stacking processing. I also like the geometric pattern acheived by the square comp, three main petals, and round center. Exposure looks right on as well. All in all, an outstanding first post and I'm certainly looking forward to more.

This is a stunning photo, Rob! Great first post and welcome to NPN. I have some of these interesting flowers in my garden also but not this variety. Wonderful details and lighting in this image. Square comp works good for this.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. 'Meticulous'? Yes I suppose I am. My wife calls it control freakery! And as I've just spent two hours in the kitchen hunched over the table shooting oil drops I suppose she must be correct.

One of my many favorite flowers presented beautifully. You've captured the detail perfectly. Welcome to NPN. Can't wait to see the results of the "oil drop" shoot. :wavey:
