Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted February 26, 2012241 views13 comments
Waiting for spring a shot of a red dragonfly (it should be a male of Crocothemis erythraea) resting on a thistle, from last summer- Morning light, selective sharpening, cropping for composition.
Nikon D300s; Sigma 180mm; ISO 200; F8; 1/20; tripod
Many thanks for looking, Fabio

Wow, Fabio, you've been hiding this one since last summer? I envy you your array of dragonfly images. This one is very dramatic with the blood red body against the green BG. Fabulous view of the wing structure as well. Simply a superb DF image. :toast:

Beautiful Fabio! Perfect the sharpness of the insect and perfect the blur of everything behind it.

Doesn't get any better than this! Perfect plane of focus so the 'fly is tack-sharp throughout.
Excellent colours and BG too -

Terrific detail in the entire DF. Great job of managing the focal plane. The magenta in the thistle bloom is a nice addition.

Excellent shot and composition. Very nice detail where it counts. I like the thistle and background as they compliment the image very well, way to go.
