Fault Line

So... the editors at Outdoor Photography Canada chose my photo as their Editor's assignment grand prize winner (cheers) and the prize was a phototour with Darwin Wiggett at Abraham Lake. I loved my stay at Aurum Lodge with Alan and Madeleine. This was my first time shooting in the rockies and I can't wait to get back.
This is a fault line in the ice.

Any thoughts or comments welcome,

Very cool shot, no pun intended. I'm not sure I would have included the top portion above the lake -a crop at the lake horizon seems to be more natural for me. Congrats on the award and the ability to stay in such an insppiring place.

I like the abstract qualities here Dean and the sweeping fault line that leads the viewer into the scene. I agree with Harry on his suggested crop. Also, congratulations on the award! :toast:

Congrats! I haven't really seen anything like this before in a photo so well done on the originality. It all works wonderfully.

The clarity in the ice and that amazing ridge are great. I'm less convinced of the suggested crop because it leave the distant ridge too close to the frame for my tastes. Congrats on your award.

No crop needed from my perspective, great as-is. Congratulations.

Very interesting natural formation, Dean. I like its sculptural quality and the fact that it's somewhat ephemeral. The line is nice for guiding the eyes into the frame. Sort of with there was something more interesting in the background.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I feel a crop wouldn't leave enough space above the line. Tony, I see what you're saying but I didn't take a wider shot :frown: .

Like the way the line snakes into the top. Excellent title too.
