A popular tourist spot in Iceland, but these winter nights are filled more with wonder than tourists.

What a great formation to complement the landscape. A beautiful display of nature. It seems tilted to the right.

Great shape in the borealis in this. Also, excellent, otherworldly color.

Stunning color and light Tony. Amazing landscape. The blue ice is especially beautiful. Very ethereal indeed.

Wonderful aurora image, my only nit is that the landscape appears very soft, perhaps not enough web sharpening? Also agree with Kah that it appears titled. I do like the natural colors in the sky and the shape of the aurora, very nice.

I love the blues of the icebergs mixed with the greens of the aurora. The image does appear to be slanted quite a bit tor the right, but that should be easy to fix. Perhaps a crop off the right (to get rid of the darker iceberg) along with some of the top would place even greater emphasis on the wonderful show of light with the beautiful foreground. Also, did you by chance use a long lens to capture any abstracts of the ice in the water with the brilliant green reflections?

Just to clarify that the image is perfectly straight! I think the glacier on the left gives the impression that the image is sloping.

Spectacular capture. The stars are a special addition. Was this a multiple exposure?

My, it certainly has been the year of the aurora in NPN this year! Well, i dont think ill tire of them too soon, especially when they're as pretty as this is! Now get yourself a level, Tony--i noticed a couple shots on your flikr page that were also tilted  (great collection, btw)
EDIT: oh, in fairness i should mention that i referenced your name in my comments on the geyser-aurora shot below...

Crazy beautiful Tony. Someday I will get to Iceland - looks like it has many wonders. On the large version, the right bergs look a little soft, maybe due to ice movement  Also, a noticed a black small streak on the right side of the green sky glow. I might clone this out as it looks like it may have been a processing artifact, like when an eraser tool has a mind of its own  I hope that I'm not the only one that this happens to. Incredibly dramatic photo and well processed. :toast:

very nice. the aurora's shape really sets this off. two things occur to me - there's a distracting dark streak in the aurora - not being at all familiar with them, is that usual? second, the cast on the mountains' snow is magenta and not green as one might expect - seems a little odd to me!?! re the tilt - seems okay to me. nice work though.

What a beautiful display! The icebergs and distant peaks make for a wonderful landscape to show off the aurora too.

Incredible to say the least. If you were to print this I would tilt it counter clockwise even if it is straight. Nonetheless, what a great job with this one Tony.

Tony,

This is simply phenomenal! what a landscape combo with the Aurora Borealis. I've yet to enjoy and be awed by this experience, but just from a presentation point of view, I think the green/yellow is a bit on the neon side. At least relative to what I've seen posted here and pictures elsewhere. And I say that mainly because of the neon green reflected on the water in the way background right of center. Then again, who am I to comment on something I've never seen in person. I still think this is an awesome capture of such a magical event.

Beautiful composition and foreground. I love the lagoon, ice, and distant ridge setting off the northern lights. I hope to go to Iceland one day for scenes like these. Are the northern lights so bright that you can freeze the stars with a fast shutter speed, or did you use a high iso or other techniques. I'd love to know how to get those crisp points of light (not to mention the waves of green).
