I really like the tree silhouettes (cool trees) and I really like the clouds, but I'm not sure I like the way its split in half--I'm wishing the trees extended higher into the frame with those cool clouds behind them.

I like the graphic quality of this, and the great clouds.

The strong contrast is appealing to me Nancy. I used to fool around with graphic arts film a long while back and this has that kinda feel. Wonderful cloud pattern as well.

Lucy,

I know these trees! I think anyway.... right there at the Pierce Ranch at the end of Tomales point and trailhead to McClure's beach.

Great silhouette and terrific sky. I might agree with Bill about the half/half thing, but that's quite minor. I think the silhouette is strong as is the sky and they go well together.

Are my eyes going buggy, or is there a faint haloing going on around the trees?

Thanks for posting.

Thanks all for the comments. Lon, yes those are the very trees—gorgeous spot but a bit of a trek down to the beach, and esp back up.
Because of the angle there's not a whole lot more length in the photo, though I'm wondering if perhaps cropping a bit of the top of the sky might help. I'll experiment. And Lon, your eyes are amazing. There WAS (I thought) a slight halo around the trees as I was working with the Nik software, but thought I'd removed it completely. And frankly I can't see it now at all....

You know, the sky sort of looks water like when I look at it a certain way. Makes for an interesting perspective when it flips. Halo is somewhat obvious especially with the left-most tree.

This is a repost. I started over again with the sky but could'nt get the b&w lines in the clouds to look as sparkling as the natural color version. Also elongated the trees somewhat which I think does help. Comments appreciated.
