Here's a Pale-mandibled Aracari from our most recent Ecuador tour. This was taken at the lodge in Mindo. I placed this good sized branch between 2 banana feeders there. I removed one oof whitish area in the bg. It's about 80% of FF.

7D 500F4 1/250 F5.6, iso 500, evaluative metering -0.3, handheld (I had to back up to get this guy fully in the frame).

Awesome bird Nate, he or she's a beauty  I like that alert pose and open beak, and of course the detail is excellent as usual. I like the way the perch angle's through the frame. Sweet Photo!!!

Hello Nate

Impressive Capture. Sharp & detailed in dark areas. Love the Talons gripping on tightly with detail, Amazing Eye , !!!

Seems the upper top of beak is soft from DOF & maybe loss of detail from that Hot spot?

Powerful Image of Impressive bird.

An impressive bird, detail in the blacks looks great and DOF is pretty darn good considering the apparent size of this bird and at f5.6

Thanks for your comments everyone! I think the upper part of the beak is soft from motion blur more than dof, it was closing it's beak when I took this.
