This started life as an orange vase until last night. I couldn't repeat the steps I took if my life depended on it. I simply felt my way into the image and started using techniques involving PS5 and CEP4.

The vase was shot at f/8, spot meter -3 EV, natural light, ISO 100, .5s

Thanks for looking and leaving your suggestions and ideas--for next time creativity hits

Yet another change ... Thanks for looking.

Carol

wow - that's quite an effect! the line with the beige on one side and rich deep red on the other distracts somewhat and i'd be looking for continuity in the spiral ...

A further idea took shape and this is the result -- along with a title change LOL

What did you take before you started
Looks like one of those LSD paintings from the late 60's :toast:

What a great swirl! I like the flying orange and black. Definitely modern art. I prefer #1.

Fascinating construct, especially the second version. Very nicely done, Carol.

I like both versions but I think I do prefer the second one a bit more, Carol. They sure have come a long way from an orange vase! The first one is smooth and reminds me more of a mathematical construct of some kind while the second "jittery" image resembles more of a picture of some sort of natural process. Interesting. Pretty wild!

Hey Carol,
I'm just seeing this post for the first time and had to drink another beer. This is very creative and I love the colors. I like both versions as the first looks like colors swirling down a hole while the second looks like a splash in a pool of color. I know exactly what you mean about trying to repeat your process, I often get lost in my photo art to the point of not being able to repeat a process but that's the fun part of photo art IMO.
 Man !
