Egret Lunch

I saw this egret fishing, so I set up on a tripod and waited. I was rewarded when he caught this rather large fish. I like the spherical water droplet coming off the fish's fin. This is a 50% crop. Comments and critiques welcome.

I like your crop and the water droplet definetely adds to this image. Whites look just right and to have such a good look at the prey is great too. :toast:

Very nice, Jerry. The water droplet adds a lot. This is a tough exposure and it looks as though some of the whites might be a bit blown (at least on my monitor). I find myself wondering why you didn't zoom in a bit more to cut down on the crop?

Jerry,
There is a lot to like about this shot. I am glad to see more shots of interesting portions of subjects. Both the fish and the egret eyes are in focus. :wavey:

These egrets are lightning fast once they decide to strike. Therefore, a close shot would be almost impossible as the egrets head would move in or out of frame much too fast. I settled on a shot wide enough to capture all the action. I mounted my camera on a tripod (Wimberly head), set the shutter to 7 frames per second (great 7D feature), focused on the egret and depressed the shutter when it looked like he was about to strike. I am not sure what kind of fish this is. Maybe some of you could help. It was fresh water.
