Yesterday I went on a trip to the boreal forest with our local birding group. I was pleased to find a Boreal Chickadee.

Nikon D300s, 300 lens, f7.1 1/200.

Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated. Thanks also for all the nice comments on my redpolls.

May, the pose and detail are excellent. The background is very complimentary and the bird stands out well against it. A wonderful capture of a species I will probably never see.

May, a beautiful bird in a great pose - very fine detail, nice eye, soft colours, and a very complimentary BG.
Well done!

Lovely bird and setting. Nice sharpness. I wish it had a little more light on it to make it brighter.

great detail in the larger version, May, and a nice wintery setting. seems a bit dark to me, I might try brightening everything somewhat.

Awesome image! Nice clean BG, great pose on the bird, suttle catch light in the eye, and stunning detail. Nicely done. Plus I'm envious having never gotten a shot of one of these guys. Seen them, but never captured.

Hello Maya

SWEET... Excellent Capture. Sharp & Detailed where it counts. I enjoy your choice of Exposure & Softness around the bird. If brightened I feel the Mood would change too harsh...

Enjoy how you have softened the feet area & branches surrounding the perch ? The Eye area is very Dark , but you have brought out the Details Beautifully & the Catchlight too.

What is your Crop ?

A very nice Capture... As is is presented !!!!

Thanks for Sharing.

Very nicely detailed and sharp image ! It looks a bit dark on my screen, so I would suggest lighting it just a little - other than that it's simply great ! Greetings, Hans

I like the soft light here. It's a Chickadee I need better images of.

May , this is really nice but do believe that if you lighten the image a little it will help.

Saw and photographed some this morning north of Roseau MN, but I got nothing this good!!! I agree with some others that it could be brightened up a bit, but I'm looking at it on my laptop, so who knows? :toast:

Thanks for all your nice comments about this chickadee. Very minor crop. The bird was tucked in a bush and that is why there is blurring around the feet. It is out-of-focus branches. I have lightened it somewhat. Is it better?
