Spring Is Here

A quick study today of Bradford Pear blossoms, forsythia and flowering quince branches processed via scanner. I either need a larger scanner for long stems or I need to use smaller flowers. This composition took up the entire glass area from edge to edge. Just wanted to preserve these blooms before the frost hits them tonight.

Equipment: Epson Photo Scanner V33
Processing: Nik Software and Topaz Labs

I am anxious for more spring blooms to "photograph" on my scanner.

All comments are greatly appreciated.

Or you could try adding some black canvas. This is beautiful, and some additional black canvas all around would make this image a winner. I also find the white highlights a little bright and uneven, but the blown highlights give this sort of a nice, painterly look. I like the arrangement and the straw ribbon very much.

Barbara: I like your subjects and the overall execution. The tight crop is my only less than 1¢ nit. Well done.>=))>

Realestate, it's all about realestate with scanning isn't Barbara? I feel I have to go around with a piece of 8.5 x11 paper to see what will fit/work!! A nice study in Spring blooms and textures. I like the whites and detail in the pear blossoms. I find yellows to be a problem with scanning. It's hard to get the right hue with the light being so bright.

Barbara, I love all your work, and you continue to delight me with your flowers....But not this time. IMO, you tried to pack in too much detail. a trio of three or cluster of a few more would have suited my taste better. But, that is only my opinion.

I , too noticed the yellow cast right away...also, on my screen, the whites look blown. You did not post a large version, so I really cannot tell on my monitor. Sorry for the very critical review.

This is the only photo of yours, that I do not like! Guess there has to be one :wavey:  :wavey:
