Another Utah

Seems like everyone has gone to Utah recently and I just returned from a quick 4 days of shooting and one day of hiking to Calf Creek Falls. Well, the 4 days were more like 2.5 days as the really bad weather for the first day and a half made things tough. The remaining days were blue sky days. Discovered some new areas for future visits - I hope.

Anyhow, this is from the Old Paria area in the GSENM. Nice to get off the beaten path and away from the big national parks. The last sun rays were just hitting the very top of the peak when this was taken. I did some heavy cropping to get to what I really wanted, but left just a bit of the blue sky to contrast with the rock colors.

C&C welcome.

Tom, I like your comp and especially enjoy the diagonal lines and soft colors. Your large version is especially nice! I like the panoramic format here too.

Really like the colors and soft textures, Tom. I think it's neat the colors you can get under an open sky in terrain like this.

The layers of color are excellent, as is the light. Beautiful rock in Utah and so many great locations. This is a lovely image

Solid abstract composition. I would tweak contrast to bring out some deeper blues in the sky.

Every corner you turn in southern Utah is another wonder. Nice portrait of one of them.

Tom,

Beautifully seen and crafted - great job on the crop choice too. I'm really enjoying the somewhat hard pastels. And the light glancing at the top really adds a great element to this scene. Well done.

Normally, I might say a pale blue cloudless sky might be a detriment Tom, but in this case it works very well to compliment the bluish pastel banding in the clay of the formations. Very well seen and captured!

Thanks all for the comments. I agree with Kah Kit's comment about bringing out more of the blue in the sky and will endeavor to do so. Thanks again.
