Another photo from Death Valley this January. A special thanks to Floris van Breugel for his great star trails tutorials (see links below). This was my first attempt at star trails and found these articles very helpful for a newbie:
Final image is a blend of two exposures:
1. Foreground: 30 sec, f/7.1, ISO 800 (light-painted with LEDs)
2. Star trail: 5421 sec (90 minutes), f/4, ISO 160

The blues and the desert patina are beautiful. What is gone and what remains is interesting. It looks stark and barren like this auto body landed on another planet and got pounded by meteorites.

I really like the light and the star trail around the subject.

I like your comp in this with the junk car in the lower 1/3 and the star trails covering the top 2/3. The star trails give a sense of the passage of time but the junk car gives the feel of a much longer passage of time to have achieived its present state. The surface of the car is quite interesting to examine; looks like it has been used lots of times for target practice. (Or does it tell a much more sinister story?!) Nice coloring and lighting in this image, Jon.

A nicely executed streaming star shot! Pleasant composition and very pleasing to the eye. Great old car, too.
