Winter Coyote

Hi everyone! I went for a drive last week with my mom and dad in search of hawks and other wildlife. My mom and dad saw this coyote trotting alongside the road, so I quickly got my gear ready. The coyote trotted off into the field and looked as though he was about to hunt. Luckily he stopped for a few seconds and gave me a good look before trotting off. I saw him whip around when we left, as something in the grass caught his attention, but sadly wasn't able to get that shot  .

We partially cloned out a stick that was above his back, and also desaturated the background.

Please view the larger version!

Thanks for looking!

Perfect pose and nicely-sharp. I also like how the colors of his fur are repeated in the background brush.

It is the positive exp compensation that has brought out all the details on the coyote's fur, Jenaya. Great work!

A nice looking winter coyote in a great setting, I really like the way the side light accents the coyote and snow drifts in the background. Nice exposure work here.Sweet Photo Jenaya

A solid image of this animal in its habitat Jenaya. Very well exposed and processed.

Hey, Jaye! Man you caught a great moment here and did everything right on the technical side.

One of my favourite things about this image is how the coyote's right front leg (far leg) is slightly raised as he/she is about to leave...it creates an important element of tension or drama for me, even if it's a very subtle one.

I have to second your suggestion to view the larger version...it's even more impressive and the coyote's eyes are INCREDIBLE at the larger size.

Great job, Jenaya! I know you were hoping for the classic hunting leap/pounce, but you did a fantastic job with what you were given.

Jenaya, I love the slightly muted colors in this image. Your dad is right in that those eyes are amazing. Well done!!
