Ladybug on Crocus

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted March 15, 2012214 views9 comments

I am always so happy to see my crocuses blooming outside our front door; the sun shining on these blooming beauties can always brighten my day! On this day a ladybug was also enjoying these flowers.

Panasonic DMC-FZ28. 6mm at F/5.6 for 1/500 sec. ISO 100.

The color contrast between the flower and the ladybug are wonderful Carolyn, and the DOF is spot on. The focus is right on the foreground petal and ladybug where it belongs, getting progressively out of focus as you look into the scene. This should be hanging on someone's wall!

Awesome shot Carolyn--very graphic image with the purple lines and the contrast with the black BG!

This has a lot going for it, Carolyn. The LB and its perch are extremely sharp, anf the comp is well balanced with the LB perfectly placed in the frame. The lighting is nice as well. Finally, this size of the LB is impressive. Really well done overall. Only minor nit: the LB is shy (facing away).
