I do not really know why this beautiful gecko is called giant. I have seen several but they were not bigger than 30 cm or so. I love the red patterns that are different on every individual.
This one was posing on our cabin in Madagascar near the Amber Mountains NP.

D300, Sigma105mm, 1/2500, F5.6, ISO500 (don't ask), tripod. :wavey:

Fantastic detail and color. The subject stands exceptionally out well form the neutral but complementary BG. I like the small light star in the gecko's eye as well. Excellent image, Ellen. :toast:

Outstanding photo. Very nice comp with an exposure that is right on, excellent detail on the gecko, and great BG. No nits from me.

Nice! By day gecko species these guys are relatively giant though I think there are several other species that get slightly bigger. Nearly all species are really pretty and this one is no exception. Really great detail on the scales on on the eye. :toast:

Finally a gecko that doesn't sell insurance. :smile: (In case you don't understand, we have commercials of the talking gecko selling car insurance here in the states.) Beautiful capture.
