It is snail kite time again here in FL. A period of the year I look forward to with great anticipation. I have spent a few day out this these birds already this year and have been rewarded with some nice images.

I like the light, flight position, BG, and snail in this shot. Please view the larger version for max. details. Thanks so much.

Ron, It was a great time shooting with you. These birds are always fun to watch snagging Apple Snails. Great shot all the way around!

I've been anticipating some snail kite photos from you. And that's a good thing. Very nice action shot with a great position, superb detail, and complementary BG that really helps focus the attention on the bird. Very dynamic pose here and a great look at the somewhat fearsome talons and beak on this bird.

Ummm..sure this isn't a female? too much brown and not enough gray for a male, I think.
Another killer kite image - exquisite detail, great eye, excellent pose, and nice BG... and the apple snail.

Nope Sandy, this is a male. It is a second-year bird, a relative youngster. The amount of grey, especially on the face is too much for a female. Also, I actually have seen this bird mate with "his" female, so I def. know this is a male.

Wonderful flight shot full of detail with a complimentary background, I also like that the snail is in the right claw so you get a good look at the snail within the composition and I like the good eye contact, amazing shot Ron, well done.

I meant to stop by earlier, got side-tracked again..
The thunderstorms are rolling into Central Texas as I type, and it knocks me off my sat link, so it's a quickie
Outstanding image Ron, I'd call it a fav! :toast: :toast:

This is a super image of a rather rare subject. I wonder, was this at the Blue Cypress area? Living in Vero myself, I've been meaning to go after these guys. Really well done.
