Reddish Egret With Repost

Second Chain of Islands, San Antonio Bay, Mid-Texas Coast.

D3 ISO 400. 500/4 with 1.4 x tc. f7.1 1/2000s. -0.7ev. Tripod from a boat.

Very windy conditions helped to tease the feathers of this egret in breeding plumage. It was already 11am and the light was a bit harsher than I would have liked. Part of another egret cloned out. No more room at the bottom. From my Whooper trip.

I love the look of this egret. Beautifully sharp and detailed. As far as the egret is concerned, the light looks fine to me. I wish the foreground OOF vegetation wasn't there, but it's a great pose and look and one you wouldn't want to miss.

I like this Angela. Nice fluffed plumage look and over all I like the habitat. The OOF FG vege is a bit distracting.

A very successful photo you got of the heron, despite the light

Excellent and unusual pose of the egret. A bit flat in color and a bit centered.

Great detail and pose, Angela. Interesting subject too. The foreground OOF stuff occupies significant space though. I'd be tempted to try a crop that removed it. It probably means going to some sort of portrait format. However, I think that this shot could easily sustain it.

Wonderful detail on the egret and I like the fluff look, nice job in getting this under the difficult conditions you mentioned.

Sweet Photo Angela  I really like the texture of the flared head and body feathers. Those cactus are cool too.

Here is a redo. I didn't want to clone over so much but here it is without the OOF stuff

Angela, the repost is awesome, a great improvement without the out of focus foreground. That is an awesome plumage display. I think reworking this was worth the effort. Nice job.

Angela, I love both images and you sure can use a cloning tool!! You handles the lighting very well. And a capture of a Reddish on a cactus, who's think it. Thanks for the post.

Hey Angela,
A different environ than I am normally used to seeing. Pretty good breeding colors going on there too and I like the way he seperated the feathers. .OOF vegetation already mentioned.
