This is a South African Shelduck which I shot in the Addo National Park here in South Africa as it was coming on to land at the Hapoor dam. This is the male of the species as the female has a white head. I like the early morning light, the wing position and touchdown.

Canon 500mm plus 1.4 extender

I really like the shot and the reflection of the Shelduck's landing. Was the lower part of the frame cut off or cropped? Great work.

What a great image of a duck I have not seen before. I keep looking for the tow rope from the boat because of the planning feet. Good light and sharpness. Great job and thanks for posting this image.

Love the skating pose. Doesn't appear as sharp as I would expect on the smaller version but the larger version is fine. Beautiful species!

Wonderful timing to get this and quite an interesting color pattern to this duck, this is one of those images where you have to look at the larger image to appreciate it, way to go.
