Birds On Time

A couple of Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiacus) in Lake Panic in Kruger at sunrise. I was shooting hippo silhouettes in the distance when these to birds appeared in my viewfinder. They made a perfect image silhouetted against the sunrise steam in the background. This is a member of the duck, goose and swan family Anatidae. Egyptian geese were considered sacred by the ancient Egyptians, and appeared in much of their artwork.

Very nice shot. If possible ~ birds not so centered. Beautiful and moody :wavey:

Mario I like this image. I only wish the birds were just a teeny bit lower to not intersect with the horizon line.

Hi Everyone ! I understand that the centering of the birds may not be perfect from a composition point of view but as I said I was not planning on capturing the geese. My camera was set up for the hippos in the distance. The ripples right under the silhouettes are from the hippos submerging and emerging. These birds suddenly showed up, refocused without moving the camera and shot away. Thanks for the feedback !

Hey Mario,
light and mist are very nice and I too wish they were a bit more off center.
