Venting His Anger

I was photographing this Northern Pintail at the refuge as he relaxed on some grasses next to a slough. His image looked good in the viewfinder when he suddenly jumped up and into the slough. Looking away from the viewfinder, I caught a glimpse of a Northern Harrier that had swooped down and buzzed the pintail. The pintail did not appreciate the interruption and voiced his anger as the the harrier made a high level fly-by before leaving.

This is a terrific image as posted. I love the open beak and position; the colors are very pleasing.

Great image. I like the uniform color scheme throughout and the open bill with a smile. Sharpness is impeccable.

Craig in all my attempts to capture images of this species, I have yet to come close to the detail in the brown head area like you have here. Love the pose and the expression you have captured. Great job.

Not my favorite pose as the tail is going a bit soft but the head is sharp and open beak is a plus.

Great shot. I like the sharp head and softer tail area, which brings distinct attention to the head. Well done.
