Sorry I have not been commenting or posting for a couple of months as was away touring India .Came home with several images to share here. This is a young Leopard ,who was having a little trouble descending the tree when a couple of branches broke off and upset her and made her roar with displeasure.Exciting to hear though. She eventually climbed back up for a while before beginning the descent once more ,this time successfully.Indian Leopards are found in most staes in India and are unlike the Tiger not considered endangered ,being very adaptable to habitat changes.
Critique and comments welcome .Thank you for looking.

Really neat Suzanne! Good eye contact, and nice overall comp with the tree. Two issues - it would be better if the small version was larger - it can be up to 720 pixels on the long side. Also, there seems to be a bit of yellow/green color cast overall to the image. Otherwise, very nice.

Suzanne, glad you got back to Canada after a long vacation in India! I do think Kabini, where you probably shot this leopard, is the best place in India to see and photograph these elusive big cats. The bright bg is a bit of a distraction here, as is the thick branch that cuts through the leopard's body, but there's not much you could have done with those. However, there is indeed a very strong green cast to the image, which can be corrected quite easily.

Thank you David,Somehow or other I had thought the smaller image should be only 600,I agree with the colour cast too.I had reduced the size in my old monitor and there was a colour shift in photoshop which I had not noticed .Ajit ,it was amazing bumping into yourself and your wife ,both in Assam and Kabini .again I am in total agreement about the colour cast This young Leopard was actually photographed on my last day at Bandipore.Looking forward to seeing many more of your images on NPN.

Hi Suzanne,

Not the greatest lighting to work with, but you came away with an image that does more than simply bring back memories (not that there's anything wrong with "just that"). In purely aesthetic terms I do wish the out-of-focus branches had decided to leave the scene before you got there ( ) as they do distract somewhat, but nothing you could have done about that. The colour issues mentioned above detract a little, but as the others have mentioned (and I'm sure you know) they can be dealt with quite easily. Love the eye contact and the almost "tentative" head-turn and pose the leopard gave you.

Cheers...

These are some illusive cats and this is a very nice capture of one and at the right time (to capture that stare). Well done.

Personally I don't mind the thick branch in the middle of the cat at all. In a way I think it adds to the image as it gives the feeling that the leopard is poking out at you.

It would be nice to see some shooting stats if possible.
