I have been shooting this pair of SHC chicks trying to get a shot that shows the tiny size of them by getting them in the flowers and shooting low. I got this one today while they were feeding by the pond. Just as mom walked enough to the right the clouds came out and softened the light.
Camera Model Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/800
Av( Aperture Value ) 8.0
ISO Speed 640
Lens EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM
HH sitting low in the grass

Nice low perspective here! I like the setting and the eye contact.

What a cutie - he may be small, but he looks old and wise.
Love the setting in the flowers, and your prespective.
My only suggestion would be to "tri,\m" the flowers from around his face a little, so they don't touch it.
Sweet image!
Sure wish I knew where sandhill chicks were around here.. :frown:

What a beauty, Cheryl. You are getting pretty good at "cute" The flower really add to the image. I wouldn't touch a thing. :toast:

Your efforts paid off IMO, Cheryl. You have captured such a cute image of the chick and your POV and composition is right on for me. I like the way you used DOF to focus on the chick in the grass. Great image and I can't wait for my wife to see it when we review NPN together tonight.

Hey Cheryl,
Definitely a cutie and your repost works for me as it isolates the face without detracting from the very nice environs! :toast:

Very cure Cheryl. For some reason, this shot sings Easter to me! Maybe this would be a good one to re-post then also
