Hepatica nobilis Johnson's Mound Kane County, IL

Spring is surging past us at an alarming rate here in the Chicago area. I found these in full bloom several weeks earlier than most years. I have never seen hepatica with such a dramatic star burst petal design.

This is a four image stack at f/5.6 aligned and blended with PS CS 4.

Nikon D700; Nikkor 200mm; 1/100s -0.67; @f/5.6, ISO 200, tripod

Comments and criticisms always welcome.

Nice stack, well done. Must have been a windless day; flowers like this tend to sway with the slightest breeze.

Beautiful flowers, nice comp and colors. I know what you mean about the spring being early here in northern Illinois. The daffodils in my garden started blooming about a week ago.

David:
A beautiful bunch of flowers. Lovely color and arrangement. To me the image is a little soft (and this may be due to compression) for a stack. Was this a manual stack or did you use Helicon or other software? Another reason for the softness may be due to subject movement between the 4 images.
