Great Blue Heron found at a local pond was very receptive to being photographed. Taken with Canon 7D, using 100-400 IS lens, ISO 400.

Good action and detail. Looks like you were working slightly against the sun angle but details still turned out pretty nicely.

Very fine Heron picture, Patricia. We have these along our creek and I would love to photograph them sometime but they are quite skittish. Nice you found a cooperative subject. I love the title you chose for this! The title along with his pose makes for a comical photo.

Love the fluffed feathers Patricia! Excellent job on your exposure with what looks to be a tiny bit backlit. Not an easy thing to do.
