Spoonbill Rising

Another from my SW Florida tour I was running. While I generally prefer when the spoonies are against the dark mangroves......It's hard not to put the hammer down when the give you a nice fly by against the sky! About a 1/2 hour after sunrise.
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 300-800 @ 648mm at f/6.3 for 1/2500 sec. and ISO 800. Slight crop all tripod mounted standing in water.

I'm already looking forward to next year’s tours to try a few different things with the spoonies!

Beautiful flight shot, Roman. Nice soft lighting and nice wing position. Maybe just a tad bit of sharpening on the head and bill in the larger post.

Very nice, Roman. In addition to the fine exposure and great pose, I like that the bird is flying a bit towards us. That body sure looks lumpy and bumpy. These birds really are beautiful and ugly at the same time!
