Sally,
It might be my monitor, but the finch seems a bit over saturated. The OOF branches in the background seem to bisect the bird distracting from an otherwise great image. Could you crop it tighter and clone the bisecting branch out of the shot? Thank you for posting this. The bird is a sweet image.

Sally, nice photo, I agree about a tighter crop. I could go either way with the OOF branch behind the bird. Thanks for sharing.

For what it's worth, I love the original crop. I like seeing up close images of small birds as much as anyone, but they can be rather ubiquitous. Seeing the environment in which the bird lives give us a little perspective, which I find appealing. The main branch has amazing character and fits nicely in the composition IMHO. I like your newly undersaturated version of the bird, and certainly feel the background is a bit busy (can't always be helped). With the bisecting branch removed it certainly feels better. Nice pose on the bird as well. He appears deep in thought, very contemplative, and makes me think as well. Well done.

Okay one more try. great feedback everyone, and it is good to hear and know that ultimately at some point it is me that has to land on the final image with "my" artistic feel! I recomposed, kept the branch out.......... now moving on to bigger and better images! Hah!
