The Cathedral

This was taken on the Ptarmigan Ridge/Chain Lake trail in the Mount Baker Wilderness, Northern Washington State. I had been hiking all day and on my way back saw how the light was hitting the lava on the trail and the way the sky reflected in the pools of water. The lava formation is called Columnar Basalts. Comments welcome and I attached a larger version as well.

This is interesting. The light is maybe less than flattering, but this looks like a good area to explore in different light.

Cool image! I love the stair steps fading into the distance and scattering of puddles and vegetation.

I agree with Tony here - great subject and worth a revisit under different conditions. There's just too much going in in this version.
