Awake My Soul
by Cristina Strudthof
Went out this weekend to capture the wildflowers. Usually the flowers bloom at peak around the beginning of April but because we've had a unusually warm winter and rain I thought I better get out there before I miss them. For the first time, I went to the Hill Country of Texas for the event. I first stopped at the Llano area, West of Austin, and then went to the Brenham area, East of Austin. It was amazing to see the difference in topography between these two areas and how one can get a completely different perspective on the some of the same flowers just by traveling a few hours. Llano had more cacti and rocky soil and the flowers were scattered throughout these features. Whereas Brenham had more rolling hills and open pastures where you could find fields of blooms. That being said, I do think I was right on target, timewise for the Llano area, but I was also slightly too early for the Brenham area.
This photo is of the Brenham area. The bluebonnets in this particular pasture were scattered throughout and are likely to only become more concentrated in the next few weeks.
Thanks for looking. C&C always welcome.

P.s. I'd suggest selecting other BG color than black. Black BG creates black frame which doesn't fit to this lively picture.
