Buttermilk Country
by Rudy Ruberti
Buttermilk Country near Bishop CA got the name from a dairy that operated in the area in the 1870's. The story goes that mill workers would go down to the dairy on a hot summer day for a glass of cold buttermilk. This was taken in early October of last year, after a storm dusted the Eastern Sierra (left) and White Mountains (right) with about a foot of new snow. Occasionally the setting sun will light up these high clouds, and other times they just stay blue.

What I wonder about the the apparent garbage in the foreground? Is that left in there on purpose?

Thanks again,

I had the same thought as Mark about the rock/garbage. I might clone it out even if it is natural.
bush up front you have a strong FG. Considering the shape of the cloud formation,
I believe that you were correct in composing so that the sky is 70% of the composition.
The large version is a real knockout. I think that this would make a good large print.
Gary.
Nice take away from a great area. It's sometimes hard to pull together all the elements in a Eastern Sierra shot, but when you do like this it makes all of the other failures worth the effort.
