Giant City State Park, Illinois

This was my first photo excursion of the year - I was amazingly fortunate to find not only the redbuds in full bloom, but a rainbow behind them! I was set up waiting for the sunset in the opposite direction when I looked behind me and noticed it, leaving me scrambling to find a workable composition. It disappeared just after I bracketed for exposure. I didn't even notice the very faint double rainbow until I opened the RAW file but it was certainly a welcome surprise!

Lovely result. I liked very much the way you arranged the trees and the arch. The colors are amazing too. Did you use a GND filter there? :-)

Thanks Rodrigo! No filter, I blended two exposures, one for the sky and one for the trees.

Nicely done Taylor! The soft light is nice and the bow adds a nice touch.
Glad you turned around and caught this in time!

Hi Taylor, I really enjoy this! The colors are wonderful...so Spring. Great light and then that fantastic double rainbow to top it all off. Very nice. Really spring like up here too. :wavey:

Powerful image. You did well to capture it having been focusing on the sunset. Would have liked to see to the base of the nearest tree, but well done.

Cool! I think i'd warm it up just a bit. the blue sky kind of saps some of the power from the rainbow--if the sky were more neutral the rainbow would stand out stronger. :wavey:

What a moment! Nice shot.

I too wish there was breathing room around the trees.
