On the Edge of Winter
by Chad Merrell
This was a great day shooting. Having anything that I liked at all on my memory card at the end of the day was just a nice bonus. I was right at the snow line and I was all alone. It was very quiet and peaceful. I shot with an umbrella over the camera to keep the water drops off of the lens.

Some curves adjustments to the midtones helped give a little pop to the colors in the flat light.

5 commentsOoooh, I really like this. Just happened to pop in here and I'm glad I did. I love the scene and your title is absolutely perfect - I love that"edge" of winter encroaching at the top of the scene.
The only slight nit is that the contrast is a little heavy for my tastes (makes this appear "hard," if that makes sense) and perhaps ever so slightly over sharpened? Both of those comments easily addressed and I think this will make an outstanding print.

The dusting of snow is just right. I should think that this would make a great print.
