Foggy Aspen

There was just a hint of fog this morning, but very little color in the northwoods landscape yet. So, to me this was a black and white image. What really stood out was that the aspen on the edge had much lighter trunks than those just a little further in.

Nikon D700, 70-200 mm, f10,1/5 second.

Tom, I think this looks great. The b/w processing worked really well on this and I like what you ended up with. As I keep looking at this it seems to get better and better for me. There seems to be a feel here that I get after looking for awhile which I really like. For me, I like this cropped up a ways from the bottom, at least at the top of the lighter grass, but actually I like it even better highter up yet. I know it looses it's grounding then, but it just seems to work really nice that way...that might just be me however  . Anyways, I like this image! Nice work.

The vertical pano enhances the graphic quality of this. I like it. If fees a bit busy, but also not too showy.

Nick: Thanks for the comment. I considered whether to leave the light grass at the bottom or remove, maybe just to remove the light grass.

Very nice b/w image Tom. I really like the arrangement of the aspens here. I agree with Nick about cropping the lighter grass off the bottom to simplify the composition.

Great capture! I like the strong, bright trunks of the Aspens, it provides great separation and helps calm the rest of the scene down. Well done.

Good choice on the B&W, works quite well. I like the high contrast, which gives it a stark, isolated feel. Very nice image, Tom.

Tom,

I like this very much! Can't really say I see any hint of any fog, but that really doesn't matter. I like the range of tones with the brighter whites up front, fading as you go deeper in to the grove of aspen.

The only possible suggestion I have would be cropping up from the bottom to remove the brighter grass, but not sure if that would help or change things much. Still, I'm really enjoying this one.

The trunks are so dense it almost has an abstract feel; I like it. I think I'd take off the brighter grass to.

Nice b&w conversion, Tom, might consider cropping the lighter portion of grass off the bottom.
