Beautiful, Sally. Do you have a bit more room on the bottom for the invisible tail?

Good shot, agree about lack of tail. May not have been possible. Colors look very good as does sharpness. Nice job of keeping detail in the black areas. Thanks for sharing.

Nice and sharp, great colors and exposure with some good details retained in the blacks Sally.
Like the soft complimentary BG colors too, well done

Great light and background, Sally, and nice, sharp eye.

Nice detail in the bird. The background is soft and complimentary. The composition feels like it needs more room at the bottom and much less room at the top. The bottom is obviously a bit tough at this point.

Hi Sally. Wow, love the way you captured the orange on this bird. I agree with Keith's compositional suggestion - perhaps a horizontal format? I may be all wrong here, just speculating, but I wonder if you could have taken this at f2.8. With this short focal length I believe you would still have lots of dof for the bird. I think the background, while still very smooth here, would benefit a little and the extra shutter speed never hurts.

Nice exposure to keep detail in the blacks - tough to do!
Good exposure and pose.
Really tight on the bottom, but you likely had no choice.
Fine image!

Reposting with a slightly different crop. Sorry to say I did not have anymore room below or to the right to extend the image. I know I can add more canvas but not quite sure how to do that via PS. thanks everyone for our feedback, very helpful!

Very nice job on the exposure Sally, I like the comp better in your repost, it's a small change but I think it makes a significant difference
