An Upward Look

Erosion has created some very interesting shapes in the buttes in Cedar Canyon. I was shooting some images of the canyon at sunrise about 3/4 of the way up one of the buttes. I was changing my position and looked up and this formation was looking down at me. I shot three or four images and I kind of like this one. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

That's sure a deep blue sky. The trees almost look yellow in comparison. Great form and shape to the spire, but I do wish the trees were just a little wider apart so that the base was better viewed.

Another special view of something new in the canyon. Love the tower and the sky. Looks like you used a polarizer to get that depth of color. The sandstone seems a bit bright for just after sunrise but I wasn't there. Really like the comp and the detail in this image. This ongoing project of yours would make a wonderful book about the canyon through the seasons. Keep up the excellent work, Richard.

Considering the harsh light this still works well for me. Looking at the shapes and contrasts this might be a great B&W candidate too.
