A trip to the Dominican Republic last week offered some time to shoot. I found several of these woodpeckers-this a female-flitting about the trees along the shoreline mid-morning with the sun coming and going through cloudy skies.

I ilke the different shades of yellow and a killer pose. Great background -- I go negative then positive about a perch that takes up so much of the picture. Lots of room to experiment on this beauty

Wonderful pose and light, Chuck. Gorgeous image. I think I might play with the crop a bit more if this were mine, but it's great as posted.

great bird, great pose, and a nice bg, Chuck. overall detail looks good as do the whites. if it were mine I'd play around with darkening some of the perch, but just to see what things looked like.

Nice and unusual pose in this presentation of a Woodie I've not seen before. Good job with the fill flash, too.

Cool bird with a great pose Chuck, nice job with the fill, I'd take a little off both the top and bottom to make this less square. :toast:

For me this is a wonderful image as posted. The pose is to die for, partly because of the great look at that wonderful eye with the head in this position. Excellent background to set the woodpecker off in this light. Well done Chuck!
