I have followed the maturing of this cat since he arrived at the Miller Park Zoo. During my zoo photo class for kids he struck this pose and I could not resist taking the shot, while I watched to make sure the kids did not get too close to the wire. Sometime this year he is supposed to receive a mate.

So that makes it an arranged marriage then huh? So much for freedom of choice for this poor guy. This is some impressive looking leopard John with that solid build and those evil eyes. If it is within your ethics, I would suggest to brighten up the eyes a little to make this even more compelling. I am a bit curious as to why you decided to use your macro lens here. Possibly because it is a very sharp lens and the subject was stationary anyway?

A great look at this beautiful cat, and how well-camoflaged they are in their habitat. I didn't realize their legs were so comparitively short.
The cat (only) might bebefit from a bit more sharpening and contrast.
Nice image!

What a beautiful creature, wow. You were obviously limited in your options in this situation, but a darker background less similar to the subject would show him off even better.

Great portrait of this magnificent animal, John! It must be the cat with the heaviest tail of all cat species! :toast:
