Crowned lemur

This crowned lemur was not shy at all. We were on our way to a cave at the end of the day to see bats flying out and came across a family of crowned lemurs. It was already getting dark so it was difficult to get some decent photos of these cute animals. Taken in Ankarana Special Reserve in the North of Madagascar.

Ellen, nice portriat of the crowned lemur. I have not seem many photos of this lemur species. Good color and detail. I do find the heavy shadow a bit distracting, but only abit. I was wondering how this image would look in a vertical format instead of horizontal. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, what a beautifully marked lemur Ellen, I have not seen this species in Mada. The large version does look very noisy in the BG, which could easily be improved with some NR. My first thought when seeing this portrait was that this would have been an ideal candidate for a vertical presentation.

Those eyes draw you right in. I suppose you could crop to a square, but I like it fine as is.

Hi Ellen,

Very cute face and those eyes are great. I'm not familiar with this species, so any shot of one is interesting to me. I also really like the "widow's peak" pattern of gold/orange and black on the forehead.

I tend to agree with the comment of going vertical on this one. Even if you choose to keep it horizontal I'd crop a little off the left side to lose that bright sliver in the top left corner.

Cheers...

Brad

Beautiful exposure. I, too, thought you would improve impact with a vertical presentation.
