Sickle-winged Guan
by Nate Chappell
Here's another shot from our 3 months in Ecuador last winter. This is a male Sickle-winged Guan. This was taken at Sachatamia Lodge in Mindo. I set up a perch between 2 banana feeders and it worked out well for the larger species. This species seemed to be most active when the weather was worst. Luckily we were shooting from a covered area and I had been working with hummingbirds so I had my 300mm on. 500 was too much lens for this guy. About 75% of FF

Hope your gear survived the rain onslaught. What a cool picture. The heavy rain adds a lot of drama to this one Nate. Good perch and great exposure and very sharp. He looks miserable. Super shot Nate.
