Blue and Green Pond

by Larry Fischer

Taken in a pasture next to my home this small pond surrounded by fairly thick cover of trees and shrubs.
Pseudo-HDR presentation brought out more blues and greens than in the original.
Nikon D700, Nikkor 14-24, tripod.
Critique constructively.

Beautiful lighting in this and I really like the reflections in the water! There is good detail in the tree and interesting texture. However, I think I would have pulled back a little more from the tree; there is something about it being too close and then seeing the wonderful scene behind that feels confusing to me. I feel like I want to push the tree out of the way because it is blocking my view. Possibly if the tree weren't so close to the viewer it would work to include it in this image. Just my thoughts. Wonderful peaceful scene, Larry.

I hear you loud and clear, Carolyn.
I took several photos without the tree.
But, I've shot so many traditional landscapes I thought I would tweak presentation somewhat. To me this is like peeking around a corner to see what's there.
Something hidden? Something unusual?
With the fairly nice coloration in the sunset I looked to me as a surprise to taking the time to peek. And I thought the eye would vacillate between the color of the distant scene and the texture and lines of the tree.
But, again, I hear you and your comment is well taken.

Nice "pseudo-HDR." If there was a way, I would brighten up the tree trunk in the bottom right corner. Love the detail and color in the upright tree on the far left. Good job.

Rick,
Good criticism.
I did what your asked for your review. I also lightened the water between the trees somewhat.

The lighting and details in both the tree and the pond are great. I like your challenging composition. Lightening the trunk in the LR is a nice improvement.
