Thanks for the comments on my previous Prairie Chicken post. This is the same male, ~25 minutes earlier. He was still wet from the grass, and chose an interesting place to call from on the lek :). 7D, ISO 400, f/8, 1/160, 465 mm cropped to vertical. C&C always welcome and appreciated. Is the nature of the perch too much of a turn off?

Beautiful early morning light Rob. Is that a mound of dung??? Makes for an interesting perch to call from. I guess he was looking for the highest advantage point. Does not bother me at all. It's a conversation starter. Keep these guys coming. Great series so far.

Thank you Verdon and David. This lek is in the middle of a pasture, so yes, the perch is a cow patty.

Great image, Rob. Love these guys and won't have a chance to go out to see them this year. Love the light and the raised "platform" that he's calling from.

Rob, Another super p.c. image! Nice clling pose, fine detail, and the perch doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, I think it adds interest and different colours and is a "plus."

Sweet light and a fine capture. The perch isn't ideal, but sometimes the birds don't seem to care about art.
