Sleepy Snowy Owl

Here's one from my one trip down to see the Snowy Owls at Ocean Shores, WA. The first evening I didn't locate a bird until it was quite dark - 1/15 of a second at 3200 iso dark. The next morning I got up at dawn ready to go out and it was howling wind and raining sideways. So I went back to bed, later that morning the sun came out so I made the hike out to the owl area and was rewarded with some birds. Midday they aren't very active but I did like the yawn this one gave me.

Quite a hike, isn't it?
Nice look at this fellow. Most of the ones I got were also sleeping in the sun.
Nice detail, habitat, and expresion.

Glad to see you found time to make it, Nate. Nice pose in this one. Ran into some pretty hefty winds one of the days I was there, but luckily no rain.

Nate,
You certainly were rewarded for your troubles. It seems from the many post of these owls that it is a testament to every ones fortitude to get these shots with the weather. Love the yawn and the dead grass all getting blown the same direction. That perch isn't bad either. Nice capture Nate.

Nice image Nate...it really does look like the hike paid off! If this were mine, I might be tempted to crop off a smudge at the bottom to place him a bit lower in the frame and less centered. I don't think you gain much by keeping the lower 10-15% anyway. But overall, great image! :toast:
