Phantoms of Laurel Creek

From my recent trip to the Smokies. I found a spot where the bend in the river offered a clean setup at the end of the bank, shooting down at about a 70 degree angle. Rather than a more "traditional" comp with a horizon reference, I decided to set up for a vertical format shooting down on the rapids. I shot a dozen or so images and liked them all, so this one that I picked out of the hat. Larger image included.

Bill, I think this looks really cool. I very much like the motion of the water and there is also a nice texture feel to it. As I keep lookng it starts to look like smoke and fire to me.

Very nice abstract image Bill. I really like the textures and shapes created by the moving water.

Interesting abstract. The blur works very well and the colors show through the water nicely.

A really interesting abstract for me, Bill. There are just enough focal points in your composition to keep my attention and lead me through the image. Your choice of shutter speed lets me explore all the details in the flow.

Well done! Great caption. The texture in the water flow is wonderful. Any way to bring up the color of the riverbed a bit? Looks like the color is there, yes? But this is just fine as is, too. I was just thinking of what to experiment with, if this were mine, which I wish it was.

This has a certain beauty about it. The lines of the water and the color behind it are what really stand out in this image.
