I want to thank all of you who gave me feedback for my post of this image two days ago. David Haynes and Sandy Richards helped me to determine that my monitors are not presenting exposure or color accurately. Consequently, my posts have not represented the shots. This shot is only cropped and had minor distracting elements cloned out. It is as taken in every other way.

This shot was taken April 8, 2012 at San Joaquin Wildlife Preserve.

Huge difference, Patrick! What did you do to correct the monitor issue?

Hi Patrick: This looks MUCH better. Exposure issues with the whites and the saturation seem to be solved. Nicely done. Still needs a little CCW rotation :) Glad you got your monitor under control. It is a critical step in the entire color calibrated workflow.

This is a big difference from your last post, and I agree with the others that it is a big improvement. I love the poses from the birds, and they definitely do look like they are in love  ! Very neat image!

Way better! I think you owe someone a beer. (Looks like it could still use a little ccw rotation.) :toast:

Very cool behavior shot, Patrick, that looks great. Is there a slight cw rotation? I refer to the lines in the water and the waterline at the bird's legs... Details, details...

Thank you fall for the comments. The photo posted today is unchanged except for minor cloning and cropping. The original image looked great on my screen, but obviously was blown out when posted. Hence the monitor replacement quest. As an experiment, I posted the unchanged image, and the audience on NPN seems to like it. When I get a chance, I will do the rotation so the ripples are horizontal. I was focused more on the subjects. My monitors are not yet replaced. A fellow bird photographer is going to the computer store with me to see if a change in the computer video card will solve the problem. If not, new monitors here I come. If anyone has a recommendation for a 27" monitor, I welcome the input. :toast:

YES!!!!!!!
Looking MUCH better!!
Now, unless your desk now needs to be leveled  , this still needs some CCW rotation to level the ripples.
SO glad you got this improved - you have some killer images coming for us now. Can't wait!

Sandy

Oh yes, now you cooking!!! There are some older threads on the digital imaging forum which give recommendations on monitors. Great job and I love Sandy's comment about leveling your desk.
