Yellow-crowned

I found this guy out in the open on the beach at Ft. DeSoto Park. I was a little over 9 meters from this bird and he wasn't the least bit concerned by my presence.

A piece of marsh grass was cropped to the left of the bird.

Not baited, called, or staged in any way.

I love it. I love the simplicity of the composition and the colors. Wonderful detail on the head and neck.

I love the look at the back of the bird and the slight head turn works very well. All the colors coordinate very well too. Detail and sharpness and super. Very well done.

A unique and fascinating image. Abstract while totally natural. Graphic design yet soft colors.

Bravo!

An excellent close up shot with nice head turn. Usually with back shots like this the details of the bird's feathers are easier to appreciate and the detail and sharpness here really helps in this respect. Graham

Lovely image and wonderful detail, Chuck. A little more room all around would be my preference, but I sure wouldn't tell the bird to back off

Very nice composition Chuck. I like the overall color pallet, sharp details, head turn, and down feathers in the beak. You pulled off a fantastic image of the back of a bird with everything else that you have going for it. I even like the depth of field you've presented here with the head being tack sharp and the tail losing just enough sharpness to keep your eyes focused on the head. Sweet shot Chuck.

It is very hard to get a composition to work from the back side but this pose works very well with the head turn and to show the feather patterns. Wonderful detail on the larger image and the white sand really adds to the scene, excellent shot, well seen and well done.
