Tuscan Morning Light

This picture was taken in April 2012 on a trip to plan a photo workshop in Tuscany in April 2013. This classic landscape was shot right after sunrise in Val d'Orcia outside of San Quirico.

The camera is Canon 1Ds mkIII and the lens Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II. Post processing done in Lightroom 4.1RC with some small cloning done in Photoshop CS5.

I like the composition, colors and feeling of this image. I think it is a fine image. The only nit I might have is to crop a bit more of the sky, down closer to the top of the mountains. The lines of the image draw the eye right into the background, but the top of the clouds, especially the urc seem to be a little blown out.

I would also crop down to the middle of the solid layer of clouds.

A beautiful rendition of Belvedere. I wonder is the right lower corner is a shade too dark. The landscape seems to call for more subtle gradations of tone.

Those will be some lucky workshop students if they are treated to light like this. What scenery!
