One more contribution to this week subject. This time straw-necked ibis checking the public rubbish bin in Causarina, NSW, Australia. Straw-necked Ibises are found throughout Australia, except parts of Western Australia, South Australia, and south-west Tasmania. They are most abundant on the australian east coast. Found around shallow freshwater wetlands, cultivated pastures, edges of swamps and lagoons, wet or dry grasslands and also in town parks with water ponds. They tend to avoid arid and saltwater areas, and coastal mudflats. They are extremely nomadic, and are constantly on the move searching for suitable habitats.

Nice entry for this week's challenge - sad to see an interesting bird reduced to foraging for garbage that has been thrown off.

Your straw-necked ibis resembles our wood stork, once known as wood ibis.
This is a terrific example of wildlife in an urban setting. I'd wish to see more separation between the ibis' head and the pole.

Great fit for the theme, Miro. That would be quite an interesting bird to see rummaging in the trash when you're walking down the sidewalk! As Buck mentioned, more contrast between the head and the pole would be nice but sometimes the critters don't cooperate for us to make the ideal photo.

Hi Miro :wavey: These birds remind me of the habits of our scavenging seagulls here in canada. Perfectly captured, with fine detail and color
