Things have slowed down--nobody shooting? Last week I had noted railroad author/photographer Joel Jensen head my way, and he sent me an email asking me to join him. I called my boss and told him I was officially playing hooky the next day, bad case of "railroad fever." He just laughed. Joel & I went running around the eastern half of South Dakota, looking for old railroad depots. That's the subject of his next book. One of the more interesting of these was the depot in Osceola, SD which had been turned into a chicken house! We had a lot of fun with it, and with the Mennonite couple that owns it. They were great hosts. Here's a photo I took of Joel, which I entitle, "Joel Jensen with his admiring fans." Note Joel's camera--a 1970s Plaubel Makina loaded with TMax 100! :toast:

I know Joel! He lives in my town (unless he's moved, been a while). He sure is a train nut. I was once one, too.

Joel now lives in Ely, NV but I think he'd love to move back to the Midwest. He might still be a train nut--he just finished a book on steam engines. Now, he's a "depot" nut, tracking down the remaining depots to see what they're up to now. Cluck cluck!

Your outing had to be a great time Kent. The question I have to ask, is which is in the enclosure? The chickens or the photographer?

Great to see you with camera in hand Kent. This shot has given me an idea to turn our old galvanized shed into a larger coup, for our first chickens. They're in a small pre-fab coup right now, but getting bigger every day.
Anyway, good to meet you! :wavey:
