It's been a good spring for these around our place. I saw eight at once in the back yard last weekend. They haven't really started pairing off and raising babies yet, but they are singing. I had some decent evening light on Sunday and this is one of the results.

1DIV, 500mm ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f7.1, 1/1000, iso 640, Av mode with no compensation, Normal processing in CS5. Cropped to 6MP from the horizontal.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Dennis: Classic pose, beautiful light. This feels very natural to me. I like the image. I might think about toning down the OOF stem / leaf above the Sparrow's head. There's a part of it that is lighter than the rest of the background that sure seems to grab my attention. Nice work.

Nice shot of this savannah sparrow. I really like the pose, the lighting, the detail, and the perch. I'm not crazy about that vegetation in the background, but I think the rest makes up for it.

Great shot. Nice detail and pose on the bird. The knob of the log is kinda weird, though, I guess maybe because the bird's right leg isn't visible. But, all the rest is wonderful, indeed!

Nice loopback pose. My only nit is the shadow in the grass.

Love the pose and the beautiful lighting, great detail in those feathers. I like how alert it is as if surveying it's territory.
