Dandelion/2

by Daniel & Loana

Gallery: FloraPosted May 6, 2012951 views16 comments
This could be the ideal sequel of our previous post in Flora gallery, with the seed emerging from the dandelion.
Of course this is a different flower and the seed was not free but kept by spider web.
Larger version provided.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

Canon 40D, Sigma 150macro, Sigma 2x, f/10, 1/25sec, ISO100, natural light, tripod.

This is a great composition. The dof really works and the colors are handled very well.

Great image. Good exposure and dof. I like the softness of the bg.

Terrific find. The flying seed is placed perfectly...guess you'll have to thank that spider. You really create the feeling that the seed has just flown away from the dandelion.

Daniele and Loana - Good addition to the Seedhead series. Beautiful focus on the lone head and at first sight it looks as if the seed head was captured "in flight".

I would have liked some more details on the Dandelion remains on the right - but lets see what others feel about it.

Delightful image. Nicely composed with the dandelion in the BG. Did you happen to take any close-ups of just the suspended seed head? We're having dandelion week at the macro gallery, and I see some good photo ops with the "floating" seed.

Spiffy moment. DOF is a bulls-eye! Good for you ... these are so hard to capture...Spiffy...the lightness and fleeting beauty seems best said with that word.

Excellent composition. No one would know if this not a real in-flight catch (except it is so sharp for 1/25 sec freeze motion image). Perfect DOF. :toast:

Great moment to have caught, D & L ! The lone seedheasd is superbly shown against the bg - like Ram I might have liked just a touch more detail in the main bunch but this is a fine image as is.

Thank you all for the kind comments.
As sayd the seed was kept by a spider web, but it was not perfectly still. So we had to use this aperture to have the seed perfectly sharp.
Our thanks to the spider too!

What a fun photograph! The web can barely be seen, which makes this really great.

You could've fooled the viewer very easily... Kudos for your honesty
Artistic image, great contrast to BG and I like the soft BG.
Well done! :toast:
